ART
I’ve been an artist my whole life. As a child I was fixated on classic cartoons; as an adolescent: Japanese woodcuts. From a teenager enamored of Anime to a young adult who became captivated by 60s psychedelic posters, Hindu art and 20th century European design movements, I’ve had many influences. Most of my art journey has been self-guided and I try as much as possible not to listen to limiting views of what art can or should be.
I’ve never been a fan of the “artist statement”. I don’t believe art is the property of the artist (other than the sense in which artists should be protected from theft of that which they poured their souls out to communicate) but rather something in the collective unconscious which the artist merely puts into a tangible form. I’d rather come to my own conclusions about artwork and for others to do the same with regard to my own. I try to do justice to the materials that I use and with that in mind I might say as my statement just this one word: quality.
